As a child, I baked with my grandmother and father. I have fond memories of rolling out cookies and the smell of fresh brownies baking in the oven. I watched and helped my late father as he baked cakes, entered, and won competitions.

Later in life I stumbled upon a job where someone offered me the opportunity to bake. This stirred a passion from my initial love of baking with my grandmother and father. My path then led me to work as a baker and pastry chef under various chefs in Florida and Texas for the next 13+ years.

After the inspiration of baking with my son, Micah, in March of 2017, Gold Ribbon Confections made its debut. It is my honor to love and serve my customers on their ordinary days and on their special occasions!

Gold Ribbon Confections is inspired by my son, Micah Ahern.  Micah was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when he was just a year old and spent the next six years of his life battling cancer. In July 2016, he earned his wings.

During his brief time here with us, Micah, AKA Superhero Micah, inspired thousands through his "Never, Ever Give Up" attitude.  As part of his legacy, a portion of every sale goes to support other heroes just like him fighting cancer.

This year more than 10,000 children in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer.  After accidents, childhood cancer is the leading cause of death for children under the age of 14. Of all national funding for cancer, childhood cancer only receives 4%. Because of this, a percentage of every Micah Jar and Confection of the Month sold will go to help children fighting cancer; in particular, to the Cook Children's Neuroblastoma Foundation, and Make a Wish Foundation.

Together we can make a difference in the lives of kids!
